For Pinoy men only

If this print ad in a tabloid is really true, then the Philippines now has a masculine wash “for the intimate part of a man.”  :D

I wonder if this new product introduction was done to provide a counterpart for the popular female intimate wash brands in the market (sounds so Blue Ocean strategy to me, don’t you think?) or is a response to Pinoy men’s growing need, if any, for an intimate wash. I mean, really, do we guys need an intimate wash? Is junior really that sensitive? Do we really mind lugging around with a bottle of intimate wash besides that piece of rubber just to be fully worthy of and ready for any action, random or planned? :)

An interesting phrase that appears in the product description is “prosexual effect.” The last time I checked my English I know that “prosexual” could mean ”stimulatory” or simply “aphrodisiac,” and therefore in this case, the product claims that the amino acid present in the liquid may help you stand up to and overcome the challenge. Hmmm, interesting, but it sounds like “A (no) Country For Old Men” to me. Haha!

Like any new product, success is in the sales. It might create a huge buzz among Pinoys because it is new and sensational, but if high product awareness does not translate to actual purchase, the product is a failure. So let’s wait and see how the market responds to this, and for how long.

But wait, like any effective new product launch, there must be product testing, right? The product trial allows a consumer to experience the product, which ideally should be positive so he makes an actual purchase. And because I claim to be the first Pinoy in WordPress blogosphere (maybe even in the entire Pinoy blogosphere) to blog about this new product, don’t you think the manufacturer should send me samples for trial? Hahaha!

By the way, comments from women are most welcome. ;)

  3. well, before i can answer that question with a modicum of credibility, i’ll have to ask the men in my life to wash their dangly bits with the damn thing. so, like, you’re my friend, right? i DARE you to wash your dangly bits with the product.

  5. wooo.. never heard a guy needs an intimate wash, unless you’re holed up in a foxhole for 2 weeks in the Iraqi desert :)

How do animals discern the other sex ? By the smell of course ! I’d say the natural smell is better - men or women for that matter :) Sabi nga nila nung araw - singit na amoy Choco-Vim ( buhay pa ba and drink na ito? ) hahaha :)

  6. i could only laugh. geez. what would a tv commercial look like?

    lawstude - May 28, 2008 at 1:20 am
  7. bw: LOL!:D Di ko na ata naabutan ang choco-vim (my colleague says this was in the 70s! Hahaha!), but just the thought of it combined with “singit” sounds obscenely gross, horrid, nasty, and as my neice would say “eeeewwww!” Hahaha!

lawstude: Haha! I wonder if we have a male celebrity who’ll agree to be the endorser; it’s like admitting you have terrible dirt and foul smell down there. LOL! :D

  8. hahaha… i think men don’t need this but maybe the one who made it really really needs it. hmmm… whose idea is this?

  9. donG hO: coming out with a masculine wash is a favorite topic for hypothetical product development or marketing campaigns; i even heard of a student at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) who made this her case study in one class. But I didn’t realize that a company would actually bite the hypothetical hype and gamble on it. as i say, let’s wait and see how the market responds. :)

  10. I have already seen a locally branded masculine wash here in the Philippines. But instead of L-Arginine, the main ingredient of the said wash is Guava Extracts (How, erm, pinoy!). So it is really branded as a Hygiene product.

The female sex organ is special in the sense that most of its parts are located inside the body. That’s why a special wash is needed for it. I now think this way, what’s so special with the male genitalia that it needs a special wash? I don’t know with the super-conscious metrosexuals though. :O

And as I have read about Arginine from Wikipedia:

Arginine plays an important role in cell division, the healing of wounds, removing ammonia from the body, immune function, and the release of hormones. Arginine, taken in combination with proanthocyanidins[4] or yohimbine[5], has also been used as a treatment for erectile dysfunction.

So the “prosexual” feature of Arginine then would be felt by taking it internally. Well I am not sure that mere osmosis could do that upon washing your, ehem, phallus (euphemism?).

I have also read that Arginine is somewhat antibacterial. So if a cleaner, fresher phallus translates to a nicer sex life, then it could be considered.

But why not try it? Haha

That’s possible! You can’t feel comfortable having sex when your buddy hurts due to an evil bacterial invasion, can you? :P

And my dad used bayabas extracts to me when I was newly-circumcised alongside with modern medicine. How kewl is that!

  14. Well, I think this product would like to increase the awareness of not only women needs hygiene. Vanity is word now for men. hehehe. Also if the guy really love his partner, then he should have to take good care of himself. Why not? !

    hammey80 - June 2, 2008 at 5:06 am
  15. I think the guava thing is for women. I saw it in a light yellow green box?!

    hammey80 - June 2, 2008 at 5:07 am
  16. Well, it’s about time the Pinoy men get conscious of their personal hygiene. There are products like this available already in the UK, China and Thailand. This new product is interesting! In fact my friends want to buy it na.

    Ai - June 2, 2008 at 5:32 am
  17. What i meant by “conscious of personal hygiene” is to try new ’solutions’ that could improve their personal care regimen. Di ko sinasabi na di conscious ang mga Pinoy.

    Ai - June 2, 2008 at 5:41 am
  18. hammey80: there really are no bargains for personal hygiene. but how far pinoy men would go other than soap and water and how soon they will adopt the behavior are interesting things to watch out for. ey, thanks for dropping by :)

Ai: thanks for dropping by. you can drop by again and post your product review. haha. :)

    barrycade - June 2, 2008 at 5:57 am
  19. at present, it is. Vast resources is water and soap. But it might be a good start for us to be conscious about our grooming. I read about the L-Argenine, it oxidezes the skin also. Is it out in the market or not yet?

    hammey80 - June 2, 2008 at 9:41 am
  20. Ai: you’re right! I saw some masculine wash ad from the sellers ad in china, Thailand, UK even in the Philippines. It’ s just they are not promoting them. Wow! updated na PINOY! bwahahahaa!

    hammey80 - June 2, 2008 at 9:43 am
  21. hammey80: the print ad says it’s already available in Watsons and other leading drugstores. new to us, but if indeed other countries already have this product, then we are playing catch up (again) to the rest of the world.

    barrycade - June 2, 2008 at 10:03 am
  22. Ok. plan to buy for my dad. bwahahaha! It’s something new to his eyes! hehehe. Thanks!

  29. I found this blog searching men’s intimate wash and I love how all these news products are surfacing, this seems like a good one for the Phillipines, but there is another called Man Junk has anyone tried it?

    Thomas - September 23, 2008 at 12:56 am
  30. thomas: thanks for dropping by. i haven’t heard Man Junk here in Manila. just to update you, this men’s intimate wash hasn’t created the necessary buzz in the market. in fact, i haven’t tried it myself; i also don’t know any guy who does. my guess is Pinoy men aren’t ready for this kind of product. maybe not yet.
